Talk by Sarah Leigh

Sarah Leigh, our church historian, gave a talk about the church on the 10th of July covering the twists and turns of its history from the Norman conquest to the Reformation.

The audience of around 70 people who came from Shoreham, Worthing and Brighton as well as Steyning, were highly appreciative and the talk prompted many follow-on questions from the audience. The afternoon represented a collaborative event between The Arts Society Steyning and the Friends of St Andrew and St Cuthman’s. Many members of the audience did the online tour after the talk whilst walking around the church.

Sarah Leigh’s talk was carefully designed to complement a lecture given earlier in the day by Nicholas Henderson to The Arts Society of Steyning on how to read the architectural and liturgical features of the English Parish church.
